Match Report From Redhill Reserves 0-4 Molesey Reserves
Crossy's Bicycle Kick Sends Moles on Way to 3 Points!
Molesey's Reserves travelled to Redhill in search of three more points and were justly rewarded for their good footballing display.
In previous games the ressies had started slow but today saw a much better beginning as the Moles attempted to get into their rhythm straight away and they didn't look back, controlling the game from the first whistle to the last. As the Moles were warming they produced some fantastic through balls creating some good chances. Unfortunately, a lack of composure meant the chances were not converted.
Eventually though the Moles took the lead through a Wayne Rooney esq bicycle kick from Paul Cross. Some good work in the Molesey midfield saw the ball sprayed out to the right hand side. Tom Gillette moved forward from right back and delivered the ball into the box for Crossy to convert with a bicycle kick. The keeper got a hand to the ball but watched it agonisingly go in anyway. Crossy scoring in his first game of the season. 1-0 Molesey.
Molesey carried on their good play with Darius Heravi tormenting the young Redhill left back at every opportunity. The Moles were still creating, forcing the goalkeeper into a couple of saves, had there been someone following up, a few more goals may have been scored before the break. Redhill were restricted to seldom opportunities, but anything that did go on target, was dealt with easily by Dan Hatton in the Molesey goal.
The score at half time was 1-0 Molesey.
The players were told to kill the game off during their half time team talk and that's exactly what happened, although Redhill did have a rare chance to draw the game level. It was only because of a last ditch gaol line clearance from captain Charlie Pratley-Jones that kept the Molesey lead.
Other than that chance it was pretty much all Molesey barring a few half chances for Redhill. It wouldn't be long before Molesey doubled their lead. Charlie Matthias sent a long ball over the top which the goalkeeper looked to come out and claim. Will Marlowe followed up and the goalkeeper smashed the ball at Marlowe, hitting him in the 'tender regions', Marlowe reacted well, putting the ball into the empty net before going down in pain, Happy Birthday Will Marlowe.
Molesey made a couple of changes bringing off Paul Cross and debutent Louis Ward and bringing on Wes Lennon and another debutent Jason Sappong.
The replacements got involved fairly quickly with Sappong wanting to be involved as much as possible and Lennon giving the Redhill defence a different threat to deal with. Ricci McLeod then came on for Rishy Vasishta.
In their last couple of games Redhill have conceded vital goals in the last ten minutes, where as Molesey have scored vital goals in that time period, so what would happen next was no surprise. Will Marlowe made it 3-0 after some good work from Darius Heravi on the right hand side saw him beat the left back and cut the ball into the area for Marlowe to run onto and grab his second of the game.
Not long afterwards an almost identical goal was scored. Again Heravi bested the young left back and played the ball into the area, this time Wes Lennon diverted the ball home to round the score off. 4-0 Molesey.
A good result for the Moles. They finally got a scoreline which reflected their quality football. The score was enough to see the Moles reclaim top spot in the league table.
