Molesey 0-0 Whyteleafe
By John O’Brien
Molesey put in a battling performance to earn a point at home to in-form Whyteleafe.
Report by Andrew Finch
It was a point that was merited, as they kept their first clean sheet in nine games to shut out a side that hit eight on the weekend.
There were solid performances all over the pitch, and Joe Yeates on his second home debut for the club just edged out centre half partner Ryan David for man of the match.
The Moles were quick out the blocks, and Ross Chalke shot wide in the opening stages, before Ashley Lodge smashed an effort against the crossbar after Craig Lewington’s corner had only been partially cleared.
Liam Allen seemed determined to keep a clean sheet on his 200th appearance for the club, and pulled off a standard save from ex Mole Antonio Simeone, followed by an excellent one from Scott Day.
Reis Stanislaus hit a free kick a couple of feet over the bar, and Chalke headed wide soon after the re-start, but as the game progressed it was the visitors who had the better chances.
Tommy Hutchings shot wide when well placed, and then could only find the side netting after rounding Allen.
Substitute Vance Bola missed a glorious chance to take all three points back to Whyteleafe by firing wastefully wide in stoppage time.
Defeat would have been harsh on the Moles, who halted a run of four straight league losses to move fifteen points clear of the one relegation place.
